Married couples have been urged to build their union on the foundations of God’s teachings and principles.
This charge was delivered by the immediate past Chief Judge of Delta State, Hon. Justice Marshall Mukoro, during the solemnization of holy matrimony between Dr. Ochuko Omonode—daughter of the immediate past Registrar of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara—and Dr. Kunmi Kehinde. The ceremony took place on Saturday at Christ Embassy, Siluko, Benin City.
Represented by Justice Edun, Justice Mukoro likened marriage to a lifelong institution of learning, stressing the need for couples from diverse backgrounds to continuously study and understand each other in order to foster a harmonious and lasting relationship.
Speaking as Chairman of the Occasion, Justice Mukoro urged the newlyweds to emulate the exemplary values of their parents and to build their home on mutual love, respect, and understanding. He further noted that it is every parent’s joy to witness their children get married, and he congratulated Dr. and Dr. (Mrs.) Kehinde on their successful ceremony.
In his goodwill message, the Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Chief (Dr.) Ighoyota Amori, who served as Special Guest of Honour, reminisced on his longstanding relationship with the bride’s family. He wished the couple abundant blessings and a blissful marital journey.
Delivering the homily, Pastor Dr. Ib Uduoise, officiating minister at Christ Embassy, Siluko, admonished the couple to place God at the center of their home. Co-officiating with Pastor Joe Osagie, Pastor Uduoise described the home as a place of refuge and encouraged the couple to cultivate peace, unity, and love.
He also offered prayers for divine favour upon the new couple and wished them a fruitful and prosperous union.
The marriage, which had earlier been formalized through traditional Urhobo rites, attracted an impressive array of dignitaries from politics, academia, business, and the media. Notable among them were the former Delta State Commissioner for Lands and Surveys, Chief Fred Majemite; immediate past Chairman of Ethiope West LGA, Hon. Nelson Oghenedoro Owoso; and former Chairman of Ughelli South LGA, Chief Oviri Uto.
Other distinguished guests included former Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Prof. Emmanuel Ogujor; former Deputy Rector, Dr. Joseph Nana; Deputy General Manager of The Pointer newspaper, Mr. Lucky Oyibo; Engr. Oris Ohwerhi; and Chief Eugene Adegor (popularly known as Ukoko-Onogbo).
Also in attendance were Chairman of Ijebu East LGA, Hon. Damilare Hacco; Chairman of Ogun State SUBEB, Hon. Lekan Ifede; Hon. Justice Yetunde Oresanya; Dr. Ladi Satimehin; and Dr. Folarin Adekoya of Chapel of Victory, Sagamu, among others.
The reception, which followed the church ceremony, was a lively celebration marked by music, dancing, and goodwill. The joyous atmosphere was further heightened by the presence of high-profile guests, including retired Permanent Secretary and former Accountant-General of Delta State, Mrs. Joy Emuesiri Enwa, and her siblings, who joined family and friends in celebrating the memorable occasion.
