By Funke Egbemode (egbemode3@gmail.com) Tamuno was a man-about-town. He played the field and sowed generously. He gave himself as well as his substance. He was the Nigerian version of Don Juan. He knew where all a girl’s buttons were and once he got his fingers on them, he kept them there until both he and the girl were sated and satisfied. And the girls were eager to please. Tamuno, the player, he reigned long, hard and deep. Of course, all good things must come to an end. So it was for Tamuno. He decided to retire from the players club.…

By Funke Egbemode (egbemode3@gmail.com) A younger friend of mine gave me a ride the other day and I learnt a lot from the experience. Trust Lagos traffic jam to show up like an unwanted pregnancy all the time. We had only had about seven minutes smooth drive when we found ourselves at a minor accident scene. A young lady and a man were having a shouting match right in the middle of the road. The man had ‘brushed’ her car while impatiently trying to move from one lane to the other. Lagos drivers, by some logic, have all concluded that…

There is palpable disquiet in the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the September 21 governorship election in the state, investigation has shown. It was learnt that many chieftains of the party are disgruntled over the unmarketability of the candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo, and with their whispers of discontent arrogantly rebuffed by party leaders both in the state and Abuja, a groundswell of antiparty has now replaced the grumblings in a show of defiance. By Jane Uyi Orobosa I read with condescending amusement an article credited to Monday O. Eboigbe, Esq where he tried unsuccefully to use fading colours to white-wash Senator Monday Okpehbolo, the All Progressive Congressive, APC, gubernatorial candidate for the September elections in Edo State. It was obvious he was trying to defend the indefensible. In his article, he agreed with Chief Francis Inegbeniki completely that what the Esan people need to present is an individual with the three Cs: Character, Competence and Capacity. In all fairness, Senator Okpehbolo does not come close to having any of them. For the issue…
