By Adeyan Osagie This Wednesday afternoon, I chanced on a poorly manipulated (photoshopped) picture of Dr Asue Ighodalo, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the September 21, governorship election in Edo State, sitting on a chair at an undisclosed location with a bottle of champagne purportedly being hid under the table by his side. As to be expected, the children of Joseph Goebbels in the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) tagged it “PDP governorship candidate for Edo 2024 governorship election comes under fire for hiding bottle of exotic champagne underneath table.” …

by Omoregie Ogbebor In an appearance that can only be politely described as laughable, the APC’s candidate, Monday Okpebholo, finally emerged from months of avoiding public scrutiny to meet virtually with the Akoko Edo Forum via Zoom. Okpebholo’s performance was nothing short of a train wreck. His faltering delivery and glaring ignorance were on full display, exposing his utter unpreparedness for the role of governor. The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has failed to effectively represent the interests of Nigerian workers and citizens in the recent salary negotiation with the government. The NLC’s willingness to compromise on the minimum wage, from an initial demand of N650,000 to a final agreement of N60,000, suggests a lack of commitment to fighting for the welfare of the people. Instead of prioritizing the high cost of living in Nigeria, the NLC focused on salary increment, which may not necessarily improve the standard of living for Nigerian workers. The removal of fuel subsidies and the hike in electricity tariffs have further…

By Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza Our attention was recently drawn to the advertorial in the Vanguard Newspaper of Monday, June 3, 2024, posted by a group called: “League of Delta Patriots” and titled: “Open Letter To Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori One Year In Office,” which suggested some provocative allusions and completely uncharitable aspersions on the leadership and administration of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, the Executive Governor of Delta State. Suffice it to say that every leadership and administration must necessarily attract its own fair share of criticism, especially those fuelled by mischievous, seditious and even cretinous sensibilities, which,…
