The people of the various communities in Idjerhe Kingdom in Ethiope West Local Government Area of Delta State have once again sent Save Our Soul(SOS) message to Rt Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori as regards the bad roads in the area.
In separate interviews with different people in the area who anger was written on their faces as they were unwilling to mention their names to the press, lamented seriously the condition of roads in communities in Idjerhe especially the roads that run from Idjerhe Roundabout to the Main Market which have been lives’ threatening.
According to them, they wondered what the people in Kingdom have done for their roads to be abandoned for such a long time – which pose threat to lives.
The people wondered if the Chairman of DESOPADEC in Delta State, Hon. John Obukowho Nani, a political heavy weight in the state who hails from Idjerhe Kingdom has seen the bad state of the roads and failed to intervene for possible rehabilitation.
One of them said:” I am very much in doubt if Hon. John Nani, the Chairman of DESOPADEC in the state who is from Idjerhe Kingdom has seen worst parts of the roads.
According to the people, they are also very much in doubt if Hon. Halims Agoda, who has represented the people in House of Representatives severally and if given the opportunity, would like to go there again, has seen the state of the roads.
One of them said:” You can’t say you are a political juganut when your people are suffering. (Points) Look at the road, is this supposed be when we have people in government?
They said, they feel so bad each time they pass the road because, it is a road that links many communities in the kingdom. The worse part is the Main Market where farmers bring their farm produce for sale and buyers come from different parts of the world to buy.
One of them:” The road has been bad more than one year. You can see that we can hardly pass the road. Please, help pass our message to Governor Oborevwori to help us, we are suffering seriously.
According to the people, it is agreed Governor Oborevwori could not be everywhere and not be aware of the development, hence this cry.
They therefore called on the politicians especially Hon. John Nani, Hon. Halims Agoda, Hon. Blessing Achoja and others to swing into action to save the life of the people as the roads are now death traps.
The people also appealed
to Governor Oborevwori to direct the commissioner for Information and Works(Rural Roads), Hon. Charles Aniagwu to act swiftly by rehabilitating the roads to save the people as they are really suffering.
One of them:” The road has been bad more than one year. You can see that we can hardly pass the road. Please, help pass our message to Governor to help, we are suffering seriously.”
Recall that Bailout Magazine has once had interactions with many of the people some weeks ago about bad nature of the roads and until present, nothing has been done as the situation gets worse on daily basis.
