Fear has swept through Jesse Town in Ethiope West Local Government Area after armed men abducted Mr. Francis Amakare, the in-law of Prince Joseph Orhomonokpaye, Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Community Newspapers.
Amakare was seized late Friday night, September 26, while returning home. Within hours, the abductors contacted the family, demanding a staggering ₦10 million ransom and threatening grave consequences if security agencies are involved.
Local vigilante teams and security operatives have launched a frantic manhunt, even as the Delta State Police Command is yet to release an official statement.
A visibly shaken Prince Orhomonokpaye is coordinating with community leaders and security outfits to secure his relative’s safe release.
The brazen attack has heightened fears over the surging wave of kidnappings across Delta State, with residents urging government and law-enforcement agencies to act immediately before the crisis worsens.
Negotiations were still ongoing at press time, and Mr. Amakare’s whereabouts remain unknown.
