Senator Ede Dafinone has emerged as a central figure in the renewed push by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to consolidate its dominance in the South-South, declaring that Delta State is now politically secured for the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at the APC South-South Zonal Congress in Asaba, the Delta Central lawmaker projected confidence and authority, describing the gathering as a clear signal of unprecedented unity across the region.
According to him, the party has entered a new phase of cohesion, with stakeholders across the six South-South states closing ranks to build a formidable political force.
Dafinone emphasized that the successful conduct of the congress and the emergence of a new zonal executive committee reflect a strengthened party structure, strategically positioned to deliver resounding victories in future elections.
In what appears to be a bold political assertion, the senator declared that the shifting alliances in Delta State have effectively erased opposition, noting that key political actors who once stood on opposing platforms are now aligned with the APC.
“We are witnessing a historic moment,” Dafinone said. “This congress is not just symbolic; it is a demonstration that the APC in the South-South is united. In Delta State, the reality today is that there is no opposition. The coming together of the major political forces has positioned us as the undisputed platform.”
The senator further underscored that the party’s ambition goes beyond merely winning elections, stressing a commitment to delivering an overwhelming mandate for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
With a tone of certainty, Dafinone framed the upcoming election as a question of margin rather than victory, signaling a high level of preparedness and confidence within the party ranks.
“Our focus is clear,” he added. “It is no longer about whether we will win, but by how wide the margin will be. We are ready to mobilize, ready to deliver, and ready to strengthen the Renewed Hope agenda.”
Political observers note that Dafinone’s remarks reinforce his growing influence within the APC, particularly in Delta State, where he continues to position himself as a unifying figure capable of bridging divides and galvanizing support across political blocs.
The South-South Zonal Congress, attended by party leaders, elected officials, and grassroots delegates, is seen as a critical step in the APC’s broader strategy to solidify its base, expand its reach, and build momentum toward the 2027 general elections.
With Senator Dafinone at the forefront, the APC’s message from Asaba is unmistakable: unity, strength, and a determined march toward electoral dominance.
