The Chief Judge of Delta State, Hon. Justice Tessy Diai, has approved the annual Christmas recess for the state’s High Courts, scheduled to begin on Wednesday, December 24, 2025.
A statement issued on Friday, November 21, 2025, by the Chief Registrar of the High Court of Justice, Mrs. Eloho Okodiya Onoriose, disclosed that the vacation will run until Friday, January 2, 2026. The break is in line with the provisions of Section 36 of the High Court Law, Cap H3, Volume 3, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria 2006, as well as Order 45, Rules 3 and 4(b) and (c) of the Delta State High Court Civil Procedure Rules 2009.
According to the announcement, there will be no court sittings throughout the period of the recess. Normal court activities are expected to resume on Monday, January 5, 2026.
The release advised members of the public, particularly litigants and legal practitioners, to take note of the schedule and make necessary adjustments.
