The Delta State Commissioner for Special Duties (Government House), Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Deputy Governor of Delta State, Sir Benjamin Elue, describing his passing as a significant loss to both Delta State and Nigeria.
In a condolence message issued in Asaba, Osuoza extended his heartfelt sympathies to the family of the late elder statesman following news of his death.
He described Chief Elue as a distinguished leader whose years in public service were defined by dedication, wisdom and an unwavering commitment to the unity and development of Delta State.
“Chief Elue was a distinguished statesman whose service to Delta State was marked by dedication, wisdom, and an abiding commitment to the growth and unity of our dear state,” the Commissioner stated.
Osuoza noted that the former deputy governor carried the responsibilities of leadership with calm strength, integrity and a deep sense of duty, adding that his tenure in office reflected a lifelong devotion to the advancement of the common good.
According to him, the late political leader’s legacy would endure through the institutions he helped strengthen and the values of responsible leadership he exemplified during his years in governance.
“At this difficult moment, may his immediate family find comfort in the remarkable legacy he leaves behind — a legacy of service, honour and impactful leadership,” he said, while praying for God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.
The Commissioner further described Elue as a patriot and servant-leader whose contributions to Delta State’s political development would remain indelible.
“Delta State has lost a patriot. Nigeria has lost a servant-leader,” he added.
Sir Benjamin Elue served as Deputy Governor of Delta State and was widely regarded as a stabilizing figure in the state’s early democratic era. Tributes have continued to pour in from political leaders and stakeholders across the state in honour of his life and service.
Osuoza concluded by praying for the peaceful repose of the late statesman’s soul and for comfort for all who mourn him.
