The Delta State Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji, has applauded civil servants for their years of dedication and invaluable contributions to the state’s development, reassuring them that government remains committed to their wellbeing both in service and beyond.
She gave the commendation in Asaba at the opening of a two-day Pre-Retirement Training Programme designed to equip workers with the knowledge, skills, and confidence needed for a smooth transition into post-retirement life.
Dr. Oseji described retirement not as an end, but “a new beginning—an opportunity to explore fresh horizons, nurture long-held passions, and embrace a fulfilling future.” She noted that the training was part of proactive measures to ensure that those approaching retirement are adequately prepared for the next phase of their lives.
The programme featured sessions on personal financial planning, entrepreneurship, time management, and wellness, all tailored to help participants make informed decisions and remain productive after exiting public service.
The Head of Service expressed gratitude to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for supporting the initiative and urged participants to make the most of the opportunity, strengthen professional relationships, and create lasting memories with colleagues.
In their separate presentations, the Functioning Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Establishments and Pensions, Mr. Kingsley Olomukoro, and the Principal Consultant, De-Daf and Associates, Engr. Esedafe Solomon, stressed the importance of early planning for life after service.
They encouraged participants to take the training seriously, listen attentively, and engage actively to gain the essential competencies required for financial stability, personal growth, and successful entrepreneurship in retirement.
