Civil servants in Delta State have been charged to actively support and sustain the state government’s digitalization initiative aimed at transforming public service delivery.
The Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji, gave the charge at a workshop themed “Training the Trainer on Digitalization in the State Public Service”, organized by her office in Asaba.
Dr. Oseji commended the resource persons drawn from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), urging them to see their selection as a rare privilege to make history. She disclosed that a pilot paperless system was already in operation at the Office of the Head of Service and the State Computer Centre, stressing that participants must take the training seriously and embrace every aspect of it.
“Digitalization simply means moving from a paper-based to a digital-based system,” she said, noting that it would significantly enhance efficiency, accessibility, and citizen experience.
Lead facilitator, Mr. Timi Nagberi, highlighted the benefits of a fully digitalized public service, explaining that it would enable 24/7 citizen access to fast and transparent services. He added that government would enjoy lower administrative costs, improved inter-agency coordination, real-time program tracking, and better policy formulation.
The workshop featured presentations on Smartphone Competence, Digital Tools, Office Applications, and Social Media and Communications by nine resource persons, including the Director of Computer, Delta State, Mr. Tuoyo Eweto.
Also present were the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Maxwell Ause, and several directors from MDAs across the state.
