The Head of Service of Delta State, Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji, has urged civil servants in the state to embrace financial discipline and strategic investments that will enable them to prosper and become homeowners and car owners.
Dr. Oseji gave the charge while speaking at a workshop titled “Financial Literacy for Civil Servants” held in Asaba. She encouraged participants to explore legitimate additional sources of income, including farming, investment in landed property, and structured savings plans.
The Head of Service emphasized that financial literacy remains a critical tool for empowerment, stressing the values of transparency, accountability, and prudent resource management. She noted that proper financial planning would not only improve workers’ living standards but also secure their future.
Delivering a lecture on “Financial Empowerment: A Panacea for Building Financial Security among Delta State Civil Servants,” financial consultant, Mr. Victor Ezie, highlighted practical steps toward achieving financial independence and long-term stability.
Also speaking at the event, retired Permanent Secretaries — Mr. Patrick Ojeblenu, Mrs. Anthonia Ubogu, and Mr. Precious Anuku — commended the initiative and advised workers to cultivate prudent spending habits and a savings culture.
The workshop, designed to promote financial freedom among civil servants, featured the presentation of cash awards to winners of the HoS 100-Day Challenge.
Dr. (Mrs.) Awoke Ejedimu, Permanent Secretary, Post-Primary Education Board, Delta State, emerged First Prize winner and received One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira. Ms. Maria Adheke, Coordinator, Nigerian National Volunteer Scheme, Delta State, won Second Prize of One Hundred Thousand Naira, while Mr. Osokor Desmond, a teaching staff of the Post-Primary Education Board, secured Third Prize of Fifty Thousand Naira.
