The Delta State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has joined the global community in marking World Public Relations Day 2025, with a strong call for ethical communication and strategic dialogue to foster national unity and good governance.
In a goodwill message issued today by the Delta NIPR Chairman, Godfrey C. Osakwe, fnipr, the chapter congratulated Public Relations and Communications professionals across Nigeria and the world for their dedication to building bridges and promoting social cohesion through responsible communication.

This year’s observance, themed “Building Bridges and Navigating Polarisation,” is being commemorated with a special event held at the Ministry of Water Resources Main Hall, Professor Chike Edozien Secretariat, Asaba. The session convened students of mass communication, NYSC members, PR practitioners, academics, and other key stakeholders in Delta State to discuss “The Power of PR in Governance and Nation-Building.”
Osakwe emphasized that Public Relations is more than a profession—it is a strategic tool for social harmony, civic engagement, and institutional growth. He described PR as essential in shaping narratives that promote transparency, foster trust, and drive national development.
“As PR professionals, we must be the torchbearers of truth, integrity, and transformational communication,” he stated. “Our role is pivotal in influencing governance, uniting communities, and reinforcing both personal and national reputations.”
Reflecting on Nigeria’s current socio-political climate, especially in the wake of the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, Osakwe urged practitioners to remember the importance of legacy, responsible leadership, and selfless service, values he said align with the ethical foundations of Public Relations.
He lauded the resilience and commitment of PR professionals nationwide, noting that their work continues to shape policies, inform public opinion, and strengthen institutions across all sectors.
The Delta NIPR chairman concluded his message by encouraging communicators everywhere to recommit to ethical practices and contribute actively to a more peaceful and united world.
