The Delta State Head of Service, Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji, has inaugurated a Sub-Committee on Contemporary Remuneration Matters as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen workers’ welfare and address emerging salary-related concerns in the state.
The inauguration ceremony, held in Asaba, underscores the state government’s commitment to structured engagement with public servants on issues affecting remuneration, taxation, and overall welfare.
The newly constituted sub-committee, which is expected to conclude its assignment within six months, will examine matters relating to:
Implementation of the new Minimum Wage
Feedback and concerns arising from the new Tax Law
Comparison of Delta State remuneration rates with those of the Federal Government and neighbouring states
Identification and clarification of grey areas, with recommendations to the Head of Service
Dr. Oseji appealed to trade unions and professional associations to exercise patience and cooperate with the committee to ensure a smooth and transparent resolution of concerns.
She advised all affected officers to channel complaints formally through the Sub-Committee Chairman, Mr. Wilson Chukwuka, and to attach relevant supporting documents such as payslips and promotion letters to facilitate proper review.
The sub-committee is an offshoot of the Committee on Trade Unions, Professional Associations, and Other Personnel Matters, chaired by the Head of Service.
Membership of the Sub-Committee
The committee members are:
Mr. Wilson Chukwuka – Chairman
Mr. Kingsley Olomukoro – Member
Sir David Onokpe – Member
Mr. Benson Oburoh – Member
Mr. Bright Agbogun – Member

In a related development, 34 public officers in Delta State have benefitted from the Housing and Vehicle Loan Schemes, with cheques presented to them in Asaba.
Dr. Oseji urged beneficiaries to utilize the funds prudently and explore additional legitimate sources of income to improve their financial stability.
She expressed appreciation to Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for prioritizing workers’ welfare and sustaining the loan schemes. The Head of Service also conveyed optimism that funding for the schemes would be increased to accommodate more public servants.
She further requested beneficiaries to provide periodic feedback to her office on the progress of their housing or vehicle projects.
Permanent Secretary and Chairman of the Sub-Committee, Mr. Wilson Chukwuka, commended the Head of Service for maintaining transparency and due diligence in processing the loans. He cautioned workers against lobbying for loan approvals, emphasizing that the process remains strictly merit-based.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Dennis David Dennis expressed gratitude to the Governor and the Head of Service for the opportunity, assuring that the funds would be used judiciously.
The twin developments, remuneration review engagement and loan disbursement, signal renewed efforts by the Delta State Government to strengthen public service welfare and institutional accountability.
