Pastor Chris Okafor, founder of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, has formally submitted himself to the Lagos State Police Command following a series of serious accusations, law enforcement officials confirmed on Wednesday.
The development comes after days of public controversy and a previous failure to honour a police invitation.
Okafor appeared at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti, Lagos, on Tuesday, a day after the police had directed his arrest when he did not show up for questioning as scheduled.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, told reporters that although Okafor initially communicated through his lawyer that he would present himself for questioning on Monday, he failed to do so, prompting the police to issue an arrest directive.
The case has since been transferred to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Sylvester Alabi, for further investigation.
Authorities outlined that Okafor is being questioned over multiple allegations, including claims of rape and other offences capable of causing a breach of public peace, which first began circulating on social media in mid-December 2025.
The controversy intensified after several women publicly accused the pastor of sexual abuse.
Among those making allegations was Nollywood actress Doris Ogala, who claimed a long-term intimate relationship with Okafor dating back to 2017, asserting that he had broken promises of marriage, shared explicit content, and contributed to the collapse of her marriage.
Amid the growing scrutiny, Okafor addressed his congregation on December 28, 2025, where he apologised for “mistakes” and was seen kneeling at the pulpit seeking forgiveness, although he did not directly respond to the specific allegations.
Police have emphasised that their investigation is ongoing and that the use of social media to lodge complaints has been a significant factor in how the matter has progressed.
Lagos command officials have also assured that protection is being provided for alleged victims as inquiries continue.
