The Chief Judge of Delta State, Justice Tessy Diai, has sworn in Special Marshal (SM) Chief Kimashnor Tom Nwakalo-Imu as a Notary Public of Nigeria and a Justice of the Peace (JP) of Delta State.
The ceremonies, held on February 6, 2026, marked another significant step in the state judiciary’s commitment to strengthening public trust, deepening access to justice, and adapting to evolving legal and technological realities.
The appointments underscore the judiciary’s expanding role in safeguarding legal processes, enhancing revenue justice mechanisms, and reinforcing ethical standards within the justice system.
As a Notary Public, Chief Nwakalo-Imu is empowered to authenticate legal documents, administer oaths, and perform other statutory duties critical to the integrity of legal and commercial transactions. His appointment as a Justice of the Peace further entrusts him with responsibilities aimed at promoting peace, mediation, and community-level dispute resolution in line with established laws.
In a congratulatory and goodwill message, the leadership and members of Unit 20, Asaba Axis Special Marshals, described the elevation as well-deserved and reflective of Chief Nwakalo-Imu’s long-standing commitment to justice and service.
The message, signed by Engr. (SM) Raymond Onyeka Nwajuonye, Unit Secretary, on behalf of the Unit Coordinator and members, noted that the appointment is “a well-earned recognition of outstanding character, proven integrity, and unwavering dedication to justice, peace, and the rule of law.”
According to the statement, the honour not only brings distinction to the newly sworn-in JP but also to the entire Special Marshals community.
“As a Justice of the Peace, we are confident that you will continue to uphold the highest standards of fairness, impartiality, wisdom, and professionalism in the discharge of your duties,” the message read.
The Unit further expressed optimism that the appointment would inspire younger members to remain disciplined and committed to service with integrity.
Observers say the appointments come at a time when the Delta State judiciary continues to reinforce its institutional capacity and responsiveness to modern legal demands, particularly in areas of documentation authentication, revenue justice, and grassroots peace-building mechanisms.
Community leaders present at the ceremonies described the development as a boost to local justice administration, noting that experienced and credible individuals like Chief Nwakalo-Imu play a critical role in bridging formal judicial processes and community-level engagement.
The Special Marshals Unit prayed for divine wisdom, strength, and sound health for the newly appointed Justice of the Peace, expressing confidence that his tenure would be marked by fairness, positive societal impact, and enduring contributions to peace and stability in Delta State.
With the dual honours now conferred, Chief Nwakalo-Imu joins the cadre of respected legal officers tasked with supporting the administration of justice and reinforcing the rule of law across the state.
