A group, Warri Urban Security Network (WUSN), has warned individuals particularly Activist Zik Gbemre, who has been involved in spreading misinformation on the face-off between the late patriarch of the Gbagi family and former Minister of Education, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi and its tenants, to desist from such acts in the interest of peace.
It would be recalled that the family of late Gbagi, led by his son, Chief Emuoboh Gbagi and some tenants at the popular Robinson Plaza along Deco Road in the heart of Warri South Local Government area of Delta state, had been neck-deep in some kind of disagreements over rent payments account and amount being owed.
The prolonged issue had led to series of petitions being written to various police units and Commands in the area before being transferred to Command’s headquarters in Asaba. It is also currently a subject of litigations at various competent courts of jurisdiction within Warri and its environs.
Reacting to the issue in a Press statement yesterday, Warri Urban Security Network (WUSN), a security watch body expressed concerns over attempts by interlopers, especially one activist, Zik Gbemre and a few others, who has been deriving pleasure in reaping where they did not sow and fueling crisis at the plaza for their selfish gains.
The body noted that contrary to wide spread lies about changes in bank account the tenants should pay their rents into, the matter had long been resolved and the tenants have been advised to pay into the old account they were used to paying their rents and many shop occupants have complied accordingly.
It also disclosed that the remaining grey areas has to do with utility dues which include; Water, Security, Sewage, Parking and NEPA, noting that as many as the tenants who had responded in the payment of these dues have had their shops reopened and urged those whose shops were still locked up to comply so they can have access to their space.
In a statement signed by Chief Frank Adagbabiri and Barrister Chinedu Ejiofor, Chairman and Secretary respectively read in part:
“Our attention has been drawn to a recent publication by one Activist Zik Gbemre, who has now assumed the role of a meddlesome interloper in the affairs of the Gbagi’s family in a desperate effort to reap where he did not sow”.
“We are particularly taken aback by the attempt he made on the social media to dent the reputation of an officer and a gentleman, D.C.P. Alani Adegoke, (D.C, C.I.D.) of the Delta State Police Command who handled the case at the Police Headquarters, Asaba, and wondered the rationale behind such a senseless act against a man who had displayed utmost professionalism in his handling of the matter”.
“We already have it on a good authority that all the issues causing disagreements between the Gbagi’s family and the tenants have all been resolved and those who complied had since resumed their businesses at the plaza, and that it’s only a few who are yet to comply with utility bills like Sewage, parking, NEPA, water and security that are yet to have access to their shops”.
“We wish to state categorically that we have taken time to monitor the activities of late Chief Kenneth Gbagi’s children, particularly Chief Emuoboh Gbagi and we can attest to the fact that he is bringing a lot of competence to bear in not only preserving the legacies of his late father but consolidating and improving on it”.
“We have seen the building of the New Plaza at Ugbolokoso, the maintenance of the plazas at Deco Road and P.T.I. Junction with new transformers for adequate power supply, the upgrading of the Filling Stations to a 24hrs service delivery, the expansion of the primary school to accommodate a secondary section and the consolidation of the banking operations and it all points to ingenuity of Chief Emuoboh and his siblings”.
“On the issue of late Chief Gbagi having an Eldest Son outside wedlock that some perceived enemies of the family were trying to use in a bid to destabilize the family, the body noted that the identity of the person being paraded does not have any familiar link with the Gbagi’s family as his surname with which he contested the House of Assembly elections under SPD in 2015 for which he swore an affidavit is Imuero George Oghenekevwe.”.
The body further urged the members of the public to discountenance so many falsehood being peddled about the Late Gbagi’s family as the members of the family are all united in ensuring that the legacies of the late Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi are well protected.
