For many, turning 50 is about cake, music, and family toasts. But for Hauwa Abdul-Dimka, founder of Zafama Helping Hands Foundation, her golden jubilee became a golden opportunity to touch lives.
At her birthday celebration in Abuja, the philanthropist gifted over 400 schoolchildren from paramilitary schools and orphanages with school bags and accessories—sending them home with not just supplies, but smiles that lit up the day.
Born into a royal family in Uromi, Edo State, Hauwa has been married to Usman Abdul-Dimka from Plateau State for 22 years. Together, they are blessed with seven children and share a deep commitment to helping the less privileged.
“Celebrating with the less privileged is a family tradition,” Hauwa said. “Whenever we do this, it fills our hearts with joy. I thank God for letting me reach 50, and for giving me the chance to keep serving others.”
Her husband echoed her sentiment: “For me and my family, all we do is serve humanity with the little we have. Helping others brings us happiness, fulfillment, and joy.”
Friends and guests at the event testified that Hauwa’s generosity is nothing new. Hajara Usman Baba Akali, a guest, noted: “This is not the first time she’s empowering the needy. She has been doing it for years, and often marks her birthdays with them.”
Even the youngest attendees felt the warmth of the day. Aliyu Umar, a beneficiary from the Ofana Fikra Orphanage and Charity Foundation, shyly expressed his gratitude: “I’m very happy for the celebration of your 50th birthday.”
The celebration itself was a lively cultural carnival, with music, dance, and traditional displays. Friends, family, and well-wishers turned out in numbers, not only to honor Hauwa’s milestone, but to celebrate her decades of kindness and unwavering commitment to humanity.
From her royal roots to her role as a wife, mother, and humanitarian, Hauwa Abdul-Dimka has shown that true wealth is measured not in years or possessions, but in the lives you touch along the way.
