Nigerian singer Terry Apala has stirred controversy after revealing that he would never allow his partner to attend a public gym.
Speaking on the Echo Room podcast, the artist recounted his experiences at iFitness VGC and another gym in Megamound Estate, claiming that many women visit gyms primarily to socialize and create videos rather than exercise.
“I will not allow my partner to go to the gym. I was a member of iFitness VGC, so I’ve been there. I saw what was going down. Ladies nowadays are just going to the gym to vibe and do videos.
They’re not there to actually work out,” he said.
Apala alleged that gyms have become more of social spaces, suggesting that some women use the environment to attract men. While acknowledging that a few genuinely go for fitness, he insisted that many simply “enjoy the vibe” instead.
