Delta state Government has reiterated its determination to uphold excellence, hardwork and maintain integrity by promoting and defending the culture and the image of the civil service.
The Heard of Service of Delta State Dr. (Mrs.) Mininim Oseji made the promise when she and her management team embarked on an inspection tour of some Departments and agencies (MDA’s) directly under the supervision of her Office.
Speaking while being conducted round the premises of the Staff Training Center by the Deputy Director of Studies, Mrs. Modebe Louisa, the HOS advised that utilization of facilities in the center should be increased as that would expand the productivity of Civil Servants.
She encouraged the management to increase the number of programs and courses that the school offers by introducing courses on pension matters, work ethics and other relevant areas that will fill the gaps identified in the Civil Service.
The HOS who promised to always support the Centre in all their endeavors also visited the Delta State Computer Centre as the Director, Mr. Tuoyo Eweto Conducted her round the offices.
The Director explained that the center which is in charge of workers salaries receives update from the Accountant General, Auditor General and pre-audit Offices to effectively do their jobs.
The Head of Service who stressed the need for digitization of the Civil Service as it would reduce paper work as well as being more cost effective, advised the Director to put up a proposal to ascertain the resources required to digitize the Civil Service.
Other MDAs visited by the HOS were the Directorate of Establishments and Pensions and the Directorate of Cabinet and Administration.
Speaking with the Director of Training, Mr. Okocha Michael, she advised that training gaps in the civil service should be filled by incorporating courses such as Basic Etiquette, Financial Management, Human Resource Development, Mentorship and Leadership by Example, as these would have direct impact on civil servants.
