It was a celebration of glory, legacy and memory, weekend, as Chiazor family of Idumuje Unor and Nwoko, Idumuje Ugboko in Aniocha North local government area of Delta state, bade farewell to their Matriarch,late Princess Mrs. Catherine Okwuobi Chiazor (nee Nwoko).
A large crowd of family members and friends from across Nigeria and abroad besieged Idumuje Unor in honour of the departed Princess who passed away on Thursday 27th March 2025 in Arizona, United States of America at the age of 92.
Late Princess Catherine Chiazor, was the daughter of the late Obi of Idumuje Ugboko, HRM Obi Nkeze Nwoko II and married to Chief Anthony Chiazor of blessed memory.
Among the dignitaries at the ceremony was Senator Ned Nwoko representing Delta North Senatorial district, at the National Assembly, a nephew to the deceased.
A solemn mass was held for the repose of her soul at Saint Matthew Catholic Church Idumuje Unor followed by interment at Idumuje Ugboko.
In a tribute,the eldest son of the deceased, Mr.Greg Sunny Chiazor, a business magnate,said her departure was a great loss to the Chiazor and Nwoko families.
Mr. Chiazor described his late mother as “a devout Catholic,who lived a Christ-like life” and shaped her loved ones with good morals and character.
He said her influence would remain everlasting as he learnt to deeply cherish women and honor mothers as special beings.
Also speaking Senator Nwoko said the departed was not just his mother’s sister, but a matriarch in her own right—steadfast, composed and deeply nurturing.
He noted that she ” embodied the quiet resilience,dignity and unwavering grace that defined a generation of women who held families and communities together without seeking applause”
Late Princess Catherine Chiazor, generally acknowledged as kind, loving and caring, left behind five children, Mr.Greg Sunny Chiazor, Mrs Pat Okwumabua, Chief (Mrs) Obiageli Inuwa Mrs.Nkechi Stella Adesina and Mr.Francis Onweazu Chiazor, grand children, great grand children, uncles, aunties and other relations.
