The importance of having accurate knowledge of God as the foundation for acceptable worship was underscored during the 10th session of the Regional Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses, organized by the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society.
Delivering a public address at the event held in Agbor, Brother Alfred Okpolokpo emphasized that true worship must be based on fundamental biblical truths. Citing Romans 12:1, he explained that individuals can assess whether their worship is acceptable to God by applying logical reasoning, critical thinking, and sound judgment—qualities developed through understanding the Bible.
“It is irrational to cling to a form of worship simply because of family tradition, material benefits, or personal interests,” Brother Okpolokpo stated. “Instead, people should examine whether their religion teaches and practices the truth, which includes upholding God’s high moral standards as revealed in the Scriptures.”

He further noted that the existence of many conflicting religious beliefs proves that not all of them can be right. For centuries, he said, people have distorted biblical teachings—introducing false doctrines for control and financial gain.
Congregation overseer Brother Jonathan Ojom and other speakers highlighted the transformative effect of pure worship in the lives of its practitioners. They noted that society would greatly benefit if more people worshipped the true God in the manner that He approves.
The convention, themed “Pure Worship”, featured Bible-based drama presentations and a baptism ceremony.
