John Ikechukwu Ozegbe is not your regular, easy go lucky kind of Deltan. Young, handsome, smart, clean and always steady and confident, he carries a wisened head on his sturdy shoulders and has over the years, carved a solid niche for himself as a loyal and committed team player to his mentors and to every progressive cause.
He is a trusted friend and companion, a dependable ally in rough and calm seasons and a reliable and brilliant young man filled with dynamic verve and progressive ideas, complemented with fearless pragmatism, strategic ingenuity, admirable accountability and an impressive sense of responsibility, purpose, conviction and determination.
John Ikechukwu Ozegbe is a vibrant young Deltan who has, by a dint of hard work and hands-on application, ensured that he succeeds in whatever task or agenda he sets his hands on, both at a personal level and for the collective good and benefit of his peers, colleagues, leaders and his beloved people.
Birthed by Mr and Mrs. John Ozegbe, into the distinguished and well respected Ozegbe family of Utagba-Uno, the largest clan in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria, the young John Ikechukwu, named after his father (John), was weaned and groomed in the finest traditions of disciplined home-training and upbringing, growing up in a cozy, comfortable environment, filled with love, care and harmonious filial balance.
His father John Egwuonwu Ozegbe (now late), worked in the private sector in his early days, with Nigeria Bottling company (coca cola), where he rose to the position of Regional Marketing Manager, after which he got an appointment with the Delta State University, Asaba Campus and served meritoriously as Head Of Department, HOD, Department of Business Administration and Marketing, until his demise.
His mother, Mrs. Rose Ozegbe, a trained teacher and renowned fashion designer, held the family together, bonded by love and a collective sense of shared unity and togetherness, following the passing of their patriarch.
It was little wonder therefore that having been nurtured, moulded and guided by the able, firm, sterling yet loving tutelage and cosmopolitan qualities of his parents, John Ikechukwu Ozegbe, after his primary education, first at Nazareth school, Festac town, Lagos and then the top-notch Regina Mundi (OLA) school, Asaba, immediately got admission into the very prestigious St. Patrick’s College, Asaba where he distinguished himself and passed out in flying colours.
He then proceeded to the famous Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, from where he graduated with a Bsc in Business Administration. His thirst for knowledge also took him to the Delta State University, where he enrolled for an MBA with the Certificate in view.
John Ikechukwu Ozegbe started work with the Delta State House of Assembly in 2010 and it is a great testimony to his tenacity, dedication, commitment and vision, that he has remained with the House of Assembly till date, serving in his designated capacity as Chief Legislative Officer, and amassing an impressive cache of legislative knowledge in the procedures, functions and processes of delivering Assembly business, from the various committees he has served with, including the very highbrow Finance and Appropriations.
He has also served in committees like Agricultural and Natural resources; Establishments; Ethics and Privileges; Youth And Sports Development; Legislative Compliance and the House Committee on DESOPADEC amongst others, in his over one decade of impeccable work in the DTHA.
During this period, John Ikechukwu Ozegbe has also attended and received career enhancing training from prestigious establishments including; the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, ASCON, which is the premier Management Development Institution in the country; the Industrial Training Fund, ITF, the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), which, as a federal institution and an establishment supervised by the national Assembly, has been at the forefront of building capacity, facilitating research, supporting democratic governance, training legislators and staff and shaping public policies in Nigeria and the West African subregion, as well as several other trainings, seminars and workshops too numerous to mention.
He is also most remarkably, a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International. This is the highest form of recognition the Rotary Club bestows and is presented to a Rotarian who has made outstanding contributions to the Foundation’s international, educational, and humanitarian efforts and shown extraordinary service to their community.
The fact that John Ikechukwu Ozegbe has served in the Delta State House of Assembly for so long, is neither accidental nor fortuitous. It is rather a quite intentional and carefully cultivated and curated service trajectory, with the ultimate objective of fulfilling his long held dream and ambition, by providing the veritable platform and vehicle for him to garner and possess the required knowledge and experience to offer effective, progressive and pragmatic representation for his people on the floor of the hollowed chambers of the Delta State House of Assembly.
John Ikechukwu Ozegbe has often been described with fondness and admiration both by peers and leaders, as a square peg in a square hole; a young man who, not only has a sound, brilliant and smart head on his shoulders, but also exudes a charming, accommodating, charismatic yet simple and an ever supportive personality which is not loud, proud, haughty or abrasive, but strives at all times to carry everybody along and is always looking out for what will bring joy and happiness to everyone.
Indeed, those who know him, and they are many, will confirm that since he started his career journey with the Delta State House of Assembly and in the intervening years, he has been serving the Assembly, he has quietly attracted and influenced various developmental projects to his Utagba Uno community in particular and Ndokwa west Constituency at large.
Such projects include, Solar Powered Streetlights; Construction/Renovation Of Classroom Blocks, Rehabilitation Of Primary Health Centers, Solar Powered Water Schemes and many more that can be verified in the community and LGA.
It is therefore a complete and incontrovertible fact, that John Ikechukwu Ozegbe understands the nature and politics of the House of Assembly, having garnerd hands-on pragmatic experience and participated robustly in the processes of law making and oversight activities.
He has over the years, built a vast reservoir of the ways and means and manner that legislative business is conducted and today, he stands in the best position and as the better man to offer quality representation to his people, not as a greenhorn or neophyte in the Assembly, but as a well seasoned and prepared representative, who will deploy his practical legislative experience in ensuring accelerated development and the dividends of democracy, through the Renewed Hope for the MORE Agenda, to the constituents and people of his Constituency.
