On Monday, February 9, 2026, the Ken Kanma Support Group visited their political leader, Barrister Kennedy Kanma, and vowed to sustain the momentum of his growing political activities in Delta North Senatorial District.
The visit, which took place at his Ogwashi-Uku residence, brought together, political associates, friends, Obidients, grassroots mobilizers, supporters and members of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, who recently welcomed the Obidient Movement, a group that drove Kanma’s organic and highly successful senatorial campaign of 2023.
Led by Evangelist Benok Nwanji, its coordinator, the visitors came from the nine local government areas of Delta North, which include Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Ika North East, Ika South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Oshimili North, Oshimili South and Ukwuani. Other members of his support group across party lines and outside Delta North were also in attendance.
The group used the opportunity to pass a vote of confidence in Kanma, who is warming up for the crucial senatorial election slated for next year.
Speaking on behalf of the support group, Nwanji said the search for credible leaders in Delta North is a task that must be accomplished with urgency. According to him, the purpose of the visit was primarily to carry out that assignment.
“Coming here today is our collective search for that pathway that leads to a new Nigeria that we urgently need. But since charity begins at home, we decided, first, to visit and support a man of proven character, integrity, and unwavering commitment to service.
“As far as we are concerned, Barrister Kennedy Kanma remains our best for the senatorial seat of Delta North. After all, we are all witnesses to the poor representation that has characterized our politics for many years in this part of Delta State. No one does the same thing year in, year out and expects a different result.
“The truth is that things must change in our senatorial district. We will no longer allow comic characters and so-called professional politicians to fritter away our opportunities and those of our children and the next generation. For the avoidance of doubt, let it be known that God is interested in our political situation. And, He is on our side because this is a battle between good and bad.”
The group also condemned the rise of transactional politics, which they said has supplanted ideology-driven leadership. They therefore urged voters to support candidates like Kanma, who is widely recognized for his compassion, people-centered initiatives, and clear manifesto.
In his response, Barrister Kennedy Kanma declared that Nigeria faces existential threat because of bad governance. However, he emphasized that freedom is never handed out on a platter. According to him, it requires active engagement, hard work and determined struggle from the people.
“Our search for good governance took us to African Democratic Congress, ADC, because of our desire to join forces with like-minded people to drive a change that transforms our country for the better; a change that would ultimately be beneficial to the ordinary Nigerian. And I say this in the hope and belief that this freedom is possible.”
“Our forefathers fought against colonialism and won. Today, we still faced with the problems our forebears confronted under colonial regime. But we shall overcome. As we all know, service to the nation and service to our communities is actually the highest sacrifice. So, we must not falter.”
“You are all here today because we all appreciate the fact Nigeria is at a crossroads, and the decision we make today will determine our future. Therefore, we must work hard to free ourselves from the hands of leaders who insist that we remain like toddlers, even after many decades of nationhood.”
What is happening in Delta North may not be a revolution, but it is not far from it. The level of consciousness is high, and young men and women driving this movement are optimistic that a new dawn is within touching distance.
