In a bold political move signaling the growing strength of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Ward 9 of Aniocha North Local Government Area held a well-attended meeting on May 3, 2025, at Ukwu-Nzu community to welcome a fresh wave of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The gathering, which served as a unifying platform for party loyalists and newcomers, was presided over by the Ward Chairman, Chief Uju Ikade, who is also the Iyase of Ukwu-Nzu. In his address, Chief Daniel emphasized the importance of unity and urged all members to align with the vision and mission of the APC. “We must work with one heart and one purpose if we are to deliver true progress to our people,” he stated.
A leader of Ward 9 and Vice Chairman of the Party in the Local Government, Mrs. Mary Eboigbe, delivered a warm welcome speech, expressing optimism about the growing influence of the party in the local government and encouraging the new members to fully integrate and contribute actively.
Also lending his voice, Hon. Kaikene Okolie charged the members to remain focused and dedicated to the cause of the party, describing the influx of former PDP members as a positive sign of APC’s expanding appeal.
The meeting witnessed a strong turnout of party stalwarts and political heavyweights from both the ward and local government levels. Notable attendees included Chief Azubuke Iwendi, Chief (Engr.) Kelvin Okolie (Onwa of Ukwu-Nzu Kingdom), Mr. Peter Ozowa, Mr. Teddy Ashiedu, Mr. Tony Okenyi (Finance Secretary, Aniocha North), Mrs. Ngozi Osim (Ward 9 Woman Leader), and Hon. Tohan Okenyi, among others.
The event ended on a high note with renewed enthusiasm, as members pledged their loyalty and commitment to ensuring the APC remains a formidable force in Aniocha North.
