The Neo-Black Movement (NBM) of Africa Worldwide has brought relief to the people of Abah-Unor Community in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State by donating a solar-powered motorized borehole to address long-standing water scarcity challenges.
The humanitarian gesture marks a significant milestone for the community, which had endured decades of hardship, trekking over three kilometers to fetch water from nearby streams for drinking and domestic use.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Deputy National President of NBM of Africa, Chief Eribo Emwanta, who represented the National President, Olorogun Ese Kakor, commended the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Chapter of the organization for spearheading the initiative. He described the project as a testament to NBM’s commitment to sustainable development and grassroots empowerment.
Chief Emwanta emphasized the importance of the project, noting that access to clean water is a fundamental necessity. “This project is giving back to the community. The people are happy because they now have water — and water is life. I believe this is the only borehole in the community at the moment. It cost about ₦16 million and was fully funded through contributions and donations by members of the organization. We are building the future,” he said.
He encouraged the community to take ownership of the project and maintain it properly, stating that effective management would open doors to more developmental initiatives.

In his response, the traditional ruler of the community, HRH Obi Innocent Maduabunachukwu II, expressed profound gratitude to NBM for the project. He noted that the use of a solar system eliminates dependence on fuel-powered generators, ensuring reliable water supply with minimal maintenance costs.
Also speaking, the Country President of NBM of Africa, UAE Chapter, Prince David Mekoma, described the donation as part of the organization’s corporate social responsibility and commitment to improving the quality of life in communities. He highlighted that the project would significantly reduce the risk of waterborne diseases by providing access to clean and safe water.
Several community members also expressed appreciation to NBM, acknowledging the social and economic impact of the borehole. They urged others to safeguard the facility for future generations and prayed for blessings upon the organization for its generous intervention.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of 200 exercise books and other writing materials to pupils of Champions Nursery and Primary School, aimed at supporting academic performance, particularly in public schools.
