A politician of high repute and seasoned public relations practitioner, and current Delta State Director General of the Capital Territory Development Agency, Chief Patrick has underscored the importance of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in promoting good governance.
Speaking at the 2025 Annual General Meeting of NIPR in Uyo, Ukah, who is a former Secretary to the State Government of Delta State, former Commissioner for Education, and former Commissioner for Information, highlighted the crucial role of PR practitioners in government institutions.
According to Ukah, NIPR is a strong tool for promoting good governance in any society.
He emphasized the need for PR practitioners to be involved at every stage of program implementation to ensure the successful delivery of dividends of democracy. Ukah, who single-handedly revived the institute in Delta State, expressed his passion for the profession and its potential to enhance transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement.
He noted that PR practitioners can facilitate successful program implementation and stakeholder management, leading to institutional success.
“NIPR’s expertise is essential for effective governance, and government institutions should utilize the professionalism of the institute to achieve their goals,” Ukah stated.
As a candidate vying for a seat on the council of the institution in the forthcoming election, Chief Ukah disclosed that he is bringing his wealth of experience from the government sector to join in consolidating on the good work of Dr. Ike Neliaku, who has tremendously raised the bar of the institution.
