The National Executive Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), has upheld the indefinite suspension on the Secretary of Delta State Council, Comrade Victor Sorokwu, which was earlier slammed on him by the State Congress.
This decision was taken in Kano State, where the NEC meeting presided over by the President, Comrade Abdullahi Alhassan Yahya asked the Secretary to step aside pending full and thorough investigation of financial impropriety, high-handedness and unethical practices, which was brought against him through a petition by the Press Centre vendor is resolved.
According to insider source from the National Secretariat, the embattled Secretary had been asked to immediately hand over all Union’s property in his possession to the Assistant Secretary and stay away from the Press Centre until the investigation is concluded.
Meanwhile, the National Secretariat would inaugurate a 3-Man Committee to come to Delta State for the probe, and to report back to it before final verdict is given on the alleged gross misconduct by the Secretary.
