As part of activities marking his second year in office, the Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Dr. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved a capacity-building seminar/workshop for publishers of community newspapers in the state.
The seminar, which is scheduled to hold on Monday, May 20, 2025, will take place at Hotel Benizia, Asaba, starting at 9:00 a.m. prompt.
In a press release signed by Hon. Comrade Prince Orhomonokpaye, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Community Newspapers, it was noted that the training is strictly by invitation and aims to enhance the skills of local media practitioners in effectively reporting the achievements of Governor Oborevwori’s MORE agenda.
The keynote lecture will be delivered by Prof. Emmanuel Ufuophu-Biri, Rector of Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara. He is expected to speak on “Adequate Reporting on the MORE Agenda: Strengthening Community Media for Grassroots Impact.”
According to the release, the seminar is part of efforts to equip community newspaper publishers with modern reporting techniques and tools to better inform and educate residents at the grassroots level. It also serves as a platform to appreciate their vital role in promoting government policies and developmental strides.
“All invited community newspaper publishers and special guests are expected to be seated by 8:30 a.m. on May 20, 2025, at the venue,” the statement added.
Governor Oborevwori also extended his heartfelt appreciation to the local media for their continued support and for championing the dissemination of credible news and information about his administration’s achievements.
