Okpanam-Ugbolu Road Will Be Delivered In Strict Compliance With Specifications – OSUOZA
Delta State Commissioner for Special Duties (Government House), Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, has assured that the Ugbolu-Okpanam Road will be delivered in strict compliance with the standards and specifications stipulated for the project
This assurance was contained in an address by the Commissioner, to commemorate the ground breaking for the construction of the 12km Ugbolu-Okpanam Road, which was performed by Delta state Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the Ugbolu axis of the road.
Dr. Osuoza, who is the supervising Commissioner in charge of the road construction, averred that the project underscores the visionary and dynamic initiatives of the Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration and is in line with the strategic infrastructural development plan in the MORE Agenda.
Noting that the Ugbolu-Okpanam road starts from Asaba-Ugbolu-Illah Road in Ugbolu, just by the popular Ugbolu Market and terminates at Uche Nwankwo Street in Okpanam, Osuoza added that it spans 12km which comprises the Main alignment and adjoining roads, while the cross section has a pavement width of 8m and 1.5m of shoulders on either side of the road.
Describing the scope of work involved in the construction, the Delta Special Duties Commissioner disclosed that it includes site clearing, removal of topsoil and unsuitable materials, earth fill, concrete drains of various sizes on the entire road length including storm-water discharge drains for the adjoining areas, culverts, access slabs, crushed stone base and pavement surfacing consisting of two layers of asphalt.
Dr. Osuoza, who lauded Levant Construction Limited, as a competent Civil Engineering Company, also appealed for the maximum cooperation of the indigenes of the two communities during the construction process, to ensure the successful delivery of the road project, within the stipulated time frame.
He then expressed his profound gratitude to Governor Oborevwori, for finding him worthy to supervise this strategic road project in the infrastructural framework of the administration, describing the Governor as a compassionate, empathetic, and people-centered leader, even as he reassured that he was well acquainted with the road corridor that had been debilitated by weather elements through gully erosion over the years and would fully implement the Governor’s mandate on monitoring and supervision of the project judiciously.
