In a major push to promote youth empowerment and community development, Senator Babangida Hussaini, who represents Jigawa Northwest Senatorial District and chairs the Senate Committee on the Northwest Development Commission (NWDC), has renovated and upgraded two township stadiums in Gumel and Kazaure.
The upgraded facilities were officially commissioned by Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, who lauded the initiative as a bold step toward youth engagement and grassroots development.
Speaking at the commissioning of the Gumel stadium, Senator Hussaini reaffirmed his dedication to initiatives that foster social cohesion, nurture talent, and provide opportunities for the youth.
“I remain fully committed to advancing every initiative that empowers our youth, strengthens our communities, and supports the long-term development of Jigawa State,” he said.
“In my ongoing efforts to promote youth engagement and sports development, I have initiated and supported the upgrade of major sports infrastructure across Jigawa Northwest. I did it in Kazaure, I’ve now delivered it in Gumel—Ringim is next,” he added.

The senator emphasized that the project extends beyond just football and sports.
“These projects go beyond football—they are investments in peace, health, talent, and opportunities,” he noted.
Governor Namadi commended Senator Hussaini for his unwavering commitment to youth development through sports and recreation. He urged the people of Gumel and its environs to take full ownership of the facility and ensure its proper maintenance.
“This is a welcome intervention that aligns with our administration’s vision to create sustainable development opportunities for our youth across all sectors,” the governor said.

Senator Hussaini pledged to replicate similar projects in other parts of the senatorial district to ensure more communities benefit from functional and inspiring recreational infrastructure.
