The University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA), Worldwide, has set the stage for a grand intellectual homecoming as it announces its 2025 Annual Alumni Lecture—aptly themed A Homecoming for the Titan of the Oil and Gas Industry. The prestigious lecture will be delivered by Chief Tony Attah, WA, FNSE, the distinguished MD/CEO of Renaissance African Energy Company Limited and one of Nigeria’s most celebrated energy leaders.

The highly anticipated event will take place on Friday, 21st November 2025, at 5:00 p.m., in the magnificent Dame Edith Okowa Auditorium, Dr. Michael Omolayole Alumni Complex, University of Ibadan.
Addressing journalists in Ibadan, the 1st Vice President of UIAA Worldwide and Chairperson of the 2025 Lecture/Homecoming Planning Committee, Dr. Irene Irenosen Akhideno, Consultant Anaesthetist and Intensivist, ISTH, revealed that Chief Attah will speak on the compelling topic:
“Energy, Security and Economic Sustainability: The Role of Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Sector in National Development.”

Dr. Akhideno further announced that the lecture will hold under the Distinguished Chairmanship of Dr. Allen Ifechukwu Onyema, Esq., Chairman, Air Peace Airline, a revered patriot and champion of national advancement.
An array of eminent personalities will grace the occasion. The Special Guest of Honour is His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State, while the Royal Father of the Day is His Royal Majesty, Oba (Prof.) Saka Adelola Matemilola, Oluyalo Otileta VII, the Olowu of Owu, an academic luminary and respected traditional ruler.
The Chief Host is the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Kayode Oyebode Adebowale, FAS, mni, and the Host is the Acting President of UIAA Worldwide, Dr. Terrumun Hembaor Gajir.
Dr. Akhideno assured that the 2025 Homecoming Lecture will be one of the most memorable yet, noting that captains of industry across the Oil and Gas and banking sectors, alongside influential political leaders, have already signalled their intent to converge on Ibadan for this landmark event.
She extended a warm invitation to UI alumni (UItes), friends of the premier university, industry stakeholders, and the general public, emphasizing that the lecture promises to be a thought-provoking convergence—one that will stimulate national reflection, reinforce UI’s legacy of excellence, and celebrate a distinguished son of the University returning home in honour.
