Newly promoted Warri Wolves Football Club recorded their first away victory of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season on Sunday, edging past Katsina United with a lone goal at the Mohammadu Dikko Stadium.
Forward Igbunu Evwierhurhoma netted the decisive strike in the 76th minute, sealing all three points for the Seasiders in what was a keenly contested encounter.
Reacting to the win, the Chairman of the Delta State Sports Commission, Hon. Onoriode Oborevwori, lauded the players and coaching crew for their resilience.
He attributed the breakthrough to the unwavering support of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, whose administration has continued to invest in sports development across Delta State.
“This victory is a testament to the governor’s commitment to sports and the determination of our boys. Warri Wolves are back in the topflight to compete, and this result shows they mean business,” Oborevwori said.
The triumph marks an important milestone for the club, which only recently returned to the NPFL after gaining promotion.
Warri Wolves will next host Enugu Rangers in a home fixture scheduled for August 31 at the Southern Delta University Stadium, Ozoro, where fans are expected to turn out in large numbers to cheer the team.
