Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and Senator Ede Dafinone have urged Nigerians not to lose hope amid the economic hardship occasioned by ongoing reforms, saying perseverance, unity and stability remain critical to achieving a stronger and more prosperous nation.
The two Delta leaders made the call in separate messages to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, acknowledging the sacrifices being made by citizens while expressing optimism about the country’s economic future.
Oborevwori, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, said “there is hope on the horizon and brighter days ahead,” urging Nigerians to remain steadfast and committed to the Nigerian project.
The governor appealed to Deltans to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and his administration’s MORE Agenda, stressing that continuity and stability in governance were essential for sustainable development.
He said his administration was complementing Federal Government efforts through infrastructure development, investment in renewable energy, job creation and initiatives aimed at attracting foreign direct investment to Delta State.
“There is light at the end of the tunnel,” Oborevwori said, urging citizens to remain patient and resilient while the country navigates its current challenges.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, promising to sustain policies and programmes aimed at improving living standards and expanding opportunities across the state.
In a separate Independence Day message, Dafinone, who represents Delta Central Senatorial District, acknowledged the hardship facing Nigerians and the sacrifices required by the Federal Government’s economic reforms.
The senator, however, said the reported emerging results of the reforms should encourage Nigerians to persevere as the government works to restore economic stability, expand opportunities and improve livelihoods.
“These are difficult times,” Dafinone said, urging Nigerians to continue praying for President Tinubu and supporting his administration’s policies during the period of economic adjustment.
He also called on the people of Delta Central and Delta State to support Governor Oborevwori, saying closer cooperation between the Federal Government and the state would help accelerate development, attract investment and create opportunities for citizens.
Dafinone urged Nigerians to preserve the country’s unity and work collectively towards a peaceful and prosperous nation.
“Together, we can build a new Nigeria where peace prevails and every citizen has the opportunity to pursue and achieve their dreams,” he said.
Both leaders used the anniversary to appeal for patience and national unity, expressing confidence that sustained commitment to development efforts would help Nigeria overcome its present difficulties and move towards a more prosperous future.
