The Delta Political Vanguard (DPV) has declared its support for President Bola Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The chairman of the political pressure group, Hon. Michael Diden, aka Ejele, made the declaration during an enlarged meeting of DPV members in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
Ejele urged members to remain committed to the APC, protect the party’s political structure in Delta State and intensify grassroots mobilisation to ensure victory for its candidates in the forthcoming elections.
He said the political and economic changes experienced under Tinubu’s administration had given members reasons to support the ruling party, urging them to be proud of the APC at both the national and state levels.
According to him, DPV supported the emergence of previous governors in Delta State, including Governor Oborevwori, and would not support actions capable of weakening the existing political structure.
He said the group was determined to work for the victory of all APC candidates in 2027, adding that a vote for Tinubu would translate into federal empowerment opportunities.
Also speaking, the Director-General of DPV, Hon. Ifeanyi Eboigbe, said members of the group were committed APC supporters who would take the party’s message to wards across the state.
Eboigbe said the group would embark on grassroots mobilisation to promote Tinubu and other APC candidates, stressing the importance of reaching voters at the community level.
In his remarks, the Director of Protocol to Governor Oborevwori, Okakuro Sunday Onoriode, commended Ejele for his leadership and appreciated the group’s leaders for their contributions to the party.
Onoriode said the meeting provided an opportunity for members to strategise on how to market the APC and its candidates ahead of the elections.
He urged members to consistently identify with the party and ensure that campaigns reached polling units and wards.
He described Tinubu as the most qualified among those seeking the presidency in 2027, claiming that the president’s opponents lacked clear plans for the country.
Onoriode also commended Governor Oborevwori for providing leadership in the state, expressing confidence that DPV could mobilise support for all APC candidates.
A member of DPV, Basharun Askia Ogeah, said the time had come for intensified political mobilisation, noting that Oborevwori’s performance had made the campaign easier for APC supporters.
Ogeah urged members to work collectively for the party’s success and appealed to political leaders to return to their communities to mobilise voters.
He also called for forgiveness and reconciliation among members, stressing that unity was necessary to achieve victory in 2027.
Similarly, a former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Frank Enekoroh, urged members to practise what they preached by taking responsibility for the party’s success at the grassroots.
He charged members to remain active in their respective polling units and ensure that their wards delivered votes for the APC.
In her contribution, Ada Anioma, Hon. Amaechi Mrakpor, urged APC supporters to make effective use of social media to communicate the party’s achievements and policies to voters.
She advised party members to be humble and ensure that their messages were appropriate, persuasive and capable of winning public support.
Hon. Daniel Mayoku also stressed the need for grassroots mobilisation, urging members to begin their campaigns from their families and extend them to their polling units and wards.
He encouraged members not to lose hope because of their present circumstances, noting that political opportunities could come to them in the future.
The Managing Director of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Festus Ochonogor, commended DPV for its longstanding support for the APC in Delta State.
Ochonogor, who said he had known the group for many years, described it as a strategic partner in the party’s mobilisation efforts.
Speaking in his capacity as chairman of the focus groups of the APC Campaign Council in Delta State, he said the council would ensure that all focus groups received attention at its programmes and activities.
He disclosed that coordinators would be appointed for each local government area to monitor the activities of the groups and provide comprehensive reports on their performance.
Ochonogor said the APC was not opposed to any group and pledged that the campaign council would work with all focus groups to strengthen the party’s mobilisation structure.
Also speaking, the Isoko representative, Pastor Jonathan Ukodiko, commended DPV for its commitment and appealed to members to support all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
