The President of the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Youth Wing, Ughere Blessing, has endorsed Senator Ede Dafinone for a second term, urging Urhobo youths to rally behind the Delta Central Senator and support his continued representation.
Ughere, in a statement posted on his official Facebook handle titled “Why Urhobo Nation Youths Must Endorse and Support Senator Ede Dafinone,” said the endorsement was based on Dafinone’s responsiveness, accessibility and demonstrated commitment to creating opportunities for Urhobo youths.
He particularly cited the senator’s intervention in securing places for 20 Urhobo youths in the ongoing Niger Delta Community Development Board (NCDMB) Media and Communication Training, describing the gesture as evidence of responsive and result-oriented representation.
According to him, the opportunity followed a personal appeal to Dafinone after he learnt about the NCDMB training programme sometime in September last year.
“I reached out to him immediately. Without hesitation, he contacted the Board, and within two days, I was asked to submit 20 names for the training,” Ughere said.
“Today, I am proud to say that 20 Urhobo youths are currently participating in the ongoing NCDMB Communication Training, and all of them are doing well.”
Ughere said the intervention was only one of “numerous opportunities” facilitated by Dafinone for Urhobo youths, stressing that such interventions had been undertaken without partisan considerations.
He described Dafinone as a leader who not only listens to the concerns of his constituents but also takes concrete steps to address them.
“Beyond words, Senator Ede Dafinone has consistently shown that he is a leader who listens and acts. Whenever the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) Worldwide calls on him, he has always been available to support the interests of our people,” he said.
The UPU Youth Wing president also commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, alongside Dafinone, for what he described as their responsiveness to the aspirations of the Urhobo people.
He argued that political support should be based on measurable impact and the ability of leaders to translate representation into tangible opportunities for the people.
“Our appreciation must go beyond words. We must recognize and support leaders committed to the empowerment of our people,” he said.
Ughere urged Urhobo youths to support Dafinone’s bid for a second term, saying continuity would enable the senator to consolidate on programmes and initiatives already started.
“For this reason, Urhobo youths must rally around Senator Ede Dafinone and support him to complete all that he has started,” he declared.
He said the 20 youths benefiting from the NCDMB training represented more than beneficiaries of a single intervention, describing the programme as an investment in their skills, confidence and future.
“The opportunity you gave these 20 youths is an investment in their skills, confidence, and future. May God continue to strengthen you,” Ughere said.
Concluding his statement, the UPU Youth Wing leader reaffirmed his personal endorsement of Dafinone and celebrated the senator as a responsive representative.
“Therefore, I endorse him and I support him for a second term,” he said, signing off with the traditional Urhobo expression of appreciation: “Migwor, Senator Ede Dafinone! Migwor, the listening Senator!”
