The Chief Adviser to the Governor of Delta State, Sen. Ighoyota Amori, has lauded the performance of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, describing his achievements in office as remarkable and worthy of continued support from all Deltans.
Amori made the remarks on Wednesday when he received the leadership of the Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA), Delta State, who paid him a courtesy visit in Asaba.
Welcoming the delegation, the Chief Adviser expressed appreciation for the visit and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to fostering unity, inclusiveness and collaboration among the diverse ethnic groups in the state, while acknowledging the concerns raised by the community.
The Chief Adviser said he was hearing the issue of marginalisation for the first time and sympathised with the concerns expressed by the group, assuring them it will now be a thing of the past, as the government works better with feedback.
He described the Igala people as peaceful, hardworking and valuable contributors to the state’s agricultural sector.
“I know that the Igala community is a peaceful community, and your contribution to food production in Delta State is commendable,” he said.
Amori noted that despite security challenges facing the nation, Delta State remains relatively peaceful and stable for both deltans and non-deltans residing in the state.
“When we consider the security challenges in the country, we can say that the security situation in Delta State is minimal. There is no state without its challenges, but compared to many other states, Delta’s security concerns are minimal,” he stated.
The Chief Adviser attributed the state’s relative peace and progress to the policies and programmes of the Oborevwori administration, stressing that the government deserves continued support from all residents.
“The government is performing well and should be supported. Supporting the government will be beneficial to all of us,” he said.
He assured the delegation that government would continue to recognise and appreciate individuals and groups that contribute positively to the state’s development, adding that collaboration remains essential to good governance.
Reflecting on his political experience, Amori said Governor Oborevwori’s performance compares favourably with those of previous administrations he has worked with.
“There is so much the Governor has done that it will be very difficult to contest against him. Now, what critics will say to him is, why are you winning all the elections? I have worked with four governors, and one thing I will say is that this Governor has worked tremendously. With his street credibility, he has performed overwhelmingly well,” he added.
Earlier, leaders of the Igala Cultural Development Association (ICDA), Delta State, led by the Political leader; Mr. Jude Bamigwuojo, said the visit was aimed at bringing the concerns of the Igala community to the attention of the state government, as well as identifying areas of mutual cooperation for the benefit of their people and the state at large.
He said the association had continued to promote and support the Governor’s MORE Agenda, adding that the Igala community had benefited significantly from the enhanced peace and security being enjoyed in the state.
Also speaking, the President-General of the Igala Community, Engr. Amodu Agebie, raised concerns about what he described as the community’s marginalisation during periods of empowerment programmes, despite its contributions to Delta’s economic and agricultural development.
Agebie, however, reaffirmed the community’s support for Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration, disclosing that members were mobilising to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Also present was the Chairman of the Non-Indigene, Delta State; Sir Bernard Agazuma who was represented by Mr. Umoh Idorenyin .
The delegation commended the Governor’s developmental strides and expressed appreciation for the inclusive leadership style of the administration, assuring the Chief Adviser of their continued support for initiatives that promote peace, unity and development in Delta State.
