In a renewed push to strengthen grassroots political participation and voter consciousness, Pastor Oporoza Abraham, Personal Assistant to the immediate past Deputy Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Dcn. Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Esq. has embarked on a sensitisation tour across communities in Ogbolubiri Ward 9, Burutu Local Government Area.
The outreach, which took him to Gbekebor, Okrika, Ogbeinghene, Egodo and Agbodobori communities, was marked by strong engagement with residents on the need for responsible political participation and sustained support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Pastor Abraham was accompanied by notable party stakeholders, including Prince Abraham Kokoimgbi, Delta South Financial Secretary of the PDP, and Hon. Doboro Marvelous, Chairman of PDP Ward 9, alongside other members of the party’s local structure.
Addressing gatherings in the various communities, Abraham delivered a pointed message against vote trading, describing it as a practice that undermines the future of the electorate. He cautioned residents against exchanging their votes for short-term financial inducements, stressing that such actions mortgage the long-term development prospects of their communities.
“Selling your mandate for temporary gains deprives you and your children of sustainable growth and good governance,” he said, urging voters to prioritise competence, credibility and continuity in their political choices.
Speaking on behalf of the PDP leader in Delta State, Kingsley Otuaro, Abraham also reaffirmed the enduring presence and relevance of the PDP in Delta State, describing the party as a “bedrock of growth and development” in the region. He encouraged eligible residents to take advantage of the ongoing electronic voter registration exercise, noting that increased participation would strengthen democratic processes and ensure that the voices of the people are heard.
The visit also served as an opportunity to appreciate the communities for their longstanding loyalty to the PDP. Abraham conveyed the gratitude of the former Deputy Governor, commending the people for their consistent support during previous election cycles and urging them to remain steadfast.
Party leaders present at the events echoed similar sentiments, calling for unity within the party ranks and deeper engagement at the grassroots level as preparations for future political activities intensify.
The mobilisation tour underscores ongoing efforts by PDP stakeholders in Delta South to consolidate their base, reinforce voter education, and maintain political dominance in the riverine communities of Burutu Local Government Area.
