Asaba, Delta State – Chairman of the Cubana Group and renowned entrepreneur, Obinna “Obi Cubana” Iyiegbu, has commended the Delta State Government for convening the Delta State Economic and Investment Summit 2026, describing the initiative as a bold demonstration of the state’s commitment to attracting investment, promoting enterprise and accelerating sustainable economic development.
Reacting to the summit in Asaba, Obi Cubana said the calibre of speakers, the quality of policy conversations and the government’s engagement with the private sector have further strengthened investor confidence in Delta State as one of Nigeria’s emerging investment destinations.
The summit featured prominent national and international leaders, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Governor of Anambra State, Professor Charles Soludo, senior government officials, development partners, business executives and investors, who deliberated on practical strategies for unlocking Delta State’s economic potential through strategic investments and public-private collaboration.
According to Obi Cubana, the decision to establish the landmark Cubana Millennium City in Delta State was driven by confidence in the state’s improving investment climate and the government’s commitment to supporting credible investors through policies that encourage enterprise, infrastructure development, ease of doing business and long-term economic growth.

In her keynote address, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala underscored the importance of building competitive sub-national economies that can attract investment, create quality jobs and leverage emerging opportunities in regional and global trade. She encouraged governments to pursue policies that enhance productivity, strengthen competitiveness and position their economies for sustainable long-term growth.
Vice President Kashim Shettima reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to economic reforms aimed at improving the investment climate, expanding infrastructure, supporting private enterprise and creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive across the country.
Governor Charles Soludo advocated stronger support for Nigerian-made products and indigenous industries, stressing that sustainable economic transformation requires increased domestic production, value addition, industrial competitiveness and greater confidence in locally produced goods and services.
Speaking on the significance of the Cubana Millennium City project, Obi Cubana described it as far more than a real estate development, saying it represents a long-term investment that will stimulate economic activities, create employment opportunities, support tourism and hospitality, encourage urban renewal and attract additional domestic and foreign investments into Delta State.
He commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for sustaining policies that encourage private investment through infrastructure development, policy consistency and constructive engagement with the business community.
