Senator Ede Dafinone, representing Delta Central Senatorial District, has congratulated the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, on his conferment with the prestigious Christian Icon Award by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).
The award was presented to Governor Oborevwori during CAN’s 50th anniversary celebration held at the National Christian Centre in Abuja.
In a congratulatory message, Dafinone described the recognition as a testament to the governor’s exemplary leadership, humility, commitment to public service and dedication to Christian values, including faith, integrity, compassion and service to humanity.
According to the senator, the honour is not only a recognition of Governor Oborevwori’s leadership but also a source of pride to the people of Delta State and the Urhobo people.
Dafinone said he was particularly pleased that the governor’s leadership had continued to attract recognition beyond the boundaries of Delta State, noting that Oborevwori’s commitment to peaceful coexistence, inclusive governance and the advancement of the collective aspirations of Deltans reflected the values of responsible and people-oriented leadership.
He expressed confidence that the recognition would further inspire the governor to consolidate the achievements of his administration under the MORE Agenda, strengthen unity among the people of Delta State and sustain policies and programmes aimed at improving the lives of citizens.
“Recognition of this nature comes with an even greater responsibility to remain steadfast in the service of God and humanity,” Dafinone said.
The senator, on behalf of his family and the people of Delta Central Senatorial District, wished Governor Oborevwori continued wisdom, sound health, strength and divine grace to lead the state towards greater peace, prosperity and development.
He described the Christian Icon Award as a “well-deserved honour” and once again congratulated the governor on the recognition.
