Chief Adviser to the Delta State Governor, Chief Dr. Ighoyota Amori, has joined Nigerians in celebrating the 2026 Democracy Day, urging citizens to remain committed to democratic values and collective efforts toward national development.
In a Democracy Day message, Amori said the June 12 celebration serves as a reminder of the nation’s democratic resilience, the sacrifices of past heroes, and the enduring hope for a united, peaceful, and prosperous Nigeria.
The former political adviser noted that Democracy Day provides an opportunity for reflection on the country’s democratic journey and the need for citizens and leaders alike to strengthen democratic institutions, promote good governance, and work together for sustainable progress.
According to him, the significance of June 12 goes beyond commemoration, as it symbolizes the collective responsibility of Nigerians to uphold the principles of democracy and ensure that governance continues to serve the interests of the people.
“As Nigeria marks Democracy Day 2026, I join His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State, to celebrate the resilience of our democratic journey, the sacrifices of our heroes, and the enduring hope of a united, peaceful, and prosperous nation,” he stated.
Amori emphasized the importance of leadership and national unity in achieving the aspirations of the country, expressing confidence that Nigeria’s democracy would continue to grow stronger with the support and active participation of citizens.
He also offered prayers for God’s guidance and wisdom upon President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Delta State Governor Sheriff Francis Orohwedor Oborevwori, and leaders at all levels of government as they continue to steer the affairs of the nation.
The Delta governor’s adviser further prayed that the country’s democratic experience would usher in lasting peace, economic prosperity, and greater opportunities for all Nigerians.
He expressed optimism that through sustained commitment to democratic ideals, Nigeria would witness increased development and a brighter future for generations to come.
Amori concluded by congratulating Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day and called for continued support for democratic governance as a pathway to national growth and stability.
