Jehovah’s Witnesses have commenced their 2026 Regional Convention with a call on people to pursue lasting happiness through practical Bible principles.
The three-day programme, themed “Eternal Happiness,” is being held in 44 cities across Nigeria over 17 weekends. The free convention, which began on May 15, features Bible-based discussions, interviews and video presentations designed to help individuals remain happy despite life’s challenges.
Delegates and visitors were treated to a series of presentations focusing on topics such as “Abundant Happiness Forever — Is It Realistic?”, “Why Are You Anxious?”, “Happy Are Those Who Wash Their Robes,” and “Go In Through the Narrow Gate.”
In a message presented during the convention, a member of the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Jody Jedele, said the convention theme is reflected in a special video drama series portraying the life and ministry of Jesus Christ based on the Gospel accounts.
At the 3rd in the series of the Convention held at Agbor in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, Convention Chairman, Brother Eleazar Oscar, explained from the scriptures that lasting happiness remains attainable despite economic hardships and troubling world events.
Delivering the public Bible discourse titled “Have You Discovered the Treasure?” based on Matthew Chapter 13 verses 44 to 46, Brother John Obaro encouraged participants to make sincere efforts to worship God in the right way in order to enjoy happiness now and in the future.
The convention highlighted practical lessons on kindness, humility, forgiveness, mildness and contentment as essential qualities for a happy and meaningful life.
The convention also featured water baptism and the release of Episodes Four, Five and Six of “The Good News According to Jesus,” an 18-part video series based on the life of Jesus Christ.
Jehovah’s Witnesses are inviting members of the public to attend the free programme. Daily sessions begin at 8:20 a.m., with activities ending at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2:45 p.m. on Sunday.
