The Chairman of the Board of the Delta State Contributory Health Commission, DSCHC, *Dr. Austin Obidi* and the Director-General/CEO, *Olorogun Dr. Isaac Akpoveta*, have charged *over 200 newly recruited permanent staff* of the Commission to uphold *discipline, ethics, integrity and professionalism* in the discharge of their duties.
They gave the charge yesterday during an *onboarding and orientation exercise* for new and existing permanent staff held at the Commission’s headquarters in Asaba.
Addressing the new employees, *Dr. Obidi* described their engagement as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to improved service delivery under the state’s health insurance scheme.
He urged them to be *worthy ambassadors* of their families and the Commission, stressing that discipline, integrity and good conduct must remain the guiding principles.
“Familiarize yourselves with the policies and operational guidelines of the Commission. Strict adherence to established rules will enhance efficiency and promote public confidence in the health insurance scheme,” the Board Chairman said.
He further charged them to put the interest of enrollees at the centre of their service, noting that their conduct will determine the success of the Commission’s mandate.
In his remarks, *Dr. Akpoveta* welcomed the new staff and outlined the vision and expectations of the Commission under the *M.O.R.E. Agenda* of *His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori*.
He stressed that contributory health insurance is about protecting lives and families from financial hardship, and urged staff to ensure enrollees receive *quality, timely and respectful healthcare services*.
“This Commission is built on trust. I charge you to demonstrate professionalism in all dealings with enrollees and providers. Unethical conduct will not be tolerated,” Akpoveta warned.
The DG explained that DSCHC is a strategic agency of the Delta State Government saddled with providing health insurance coverage for Deltans and driving *Universal Health Coverage* in the state. He urged staff to familiarize themselves with the staff handbook and Standard Operating Procedures.
Dr. Akpoveta commended *Governor Sheriff Oborevwori* for approving the recruitment of autonomous staff for the Commission, describing it as a demonstration of government’s commitment to strengthening the health sector.
“This recruitment will boost our workforce and enhance our capacity to deliver efficient and effective health insurance services to Deltans,” he stated.
He assured of continuous *capacity building and support*, and called on staff to embrace *teamwork, confidentiality and innovation* while treating all Deltans with *dignity and fairness*.
Also speaking, the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Health Monitoring, *Mr. Christopher Otene*, said the state government remains committed to making health insurance accessible and affordable to all Deltans.
He charged the new employees to support government’s efforts by ensuring enrollees receive *quality, efficient and responsive services*.
The orientation featured interactive sessions, including a Q&A segment where staff sought clarifications on their duties and operations of the Commission.
DSCHC reaffirmed its commitment to build a competent, responsive workforce to deliver *M.O.R.E. Health for All Deltans*.
