The immediate past Deputy Governor of Delta State, Dcn. Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Esq., has described the death of former Governor Dr. Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan, CON, as a major loss to Delta State and the Niger Delta, paying tribute to his contributions to governance, peace and regional development.
Otuaro, in a condolence message, said the death of the former governor had robbed the state of an experienced statesman whose leadership and commitment to the wellbeing of the people would remain part of Delta State’s political history.
He described Uduaghan as a compassionate leader, an elder statesman and a father figure whose humility, wisdom and dedication to public service earned him a special place in the hearts of many.
“Dr. Uduaghan was more than a former governor; he was a father, an elder, a gentleman and a leader whose humility, wisdom and commitment to peace and development touched many lives,” Otuaro said.
The immediate past deputy governor of Delta State noted that Uduaghan’s contributions extended beyond the years he spent in office, particularly his commitment to peace, political stability and the advancement of Delta State and the wider Niger Delta region.
According to him, the late governor’s experience, counsel and belief in the development potential of the region would be greatly missed at a time when constructive leadership and collective efforts remained critical to addressing the Niger Delta’s developmental challenges.
Otuaro said Uduaghan’s legacy should be remembered not only for his years in public office but also for his commitment to the people and his belief in a peaceful and prosperous Delta State.
He expressed his condolences to Uduaghan’s wife, Deaconess Roli Uduaghan, his children and the entire Uduaghan family, as well as the Itsekiri Nation, political associates and the people of Delta State.
“My heart goes out to his family at this painful moment. The loss of a loved one is always difficult, but the passing of a leader who devoted years to the service of his people is a loss that is felt far beyond his immediate family,” he said.
Otuaro prayed that God would comfort the bereaved family, grant them the strength to endure the loss and grant the former governor eternal rest.
“Rest well, Your Excellency. Your contributions to Delta State and your commitment to the progress of our people will remain part of your enduring legacy,” he added.
