The immediate past Deputy Governor of Delta State and a leading figure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, His Excellency, Dcn Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, Esq. has congratulated party faithfuls and commended the national leadership following a landmark Supreme Court judgement that has effectively settled the party’s protracted leadership crisis.
In a statement issued shortly after the ruling on Thursday, Kingsley Otuaro described the verdict of the Supreme Court of Nigeria as a reaffirmation of the rule of law and a decisive end to internal disputes that had trailed the party’s leadership structure. The apex court upheld the earlier decision of the Court of Appeal of Nigeria, which nullified the controversial Ibandon Convention.
According to Otuaro, the judgement underscores the principle that legal processes, rather than public sentiment, must guide democratic institutions. He noted that with the matter now conclusively resolved, the PDP has entered a new phase of unity, stability, and strategic repositioning, particularly in Delta State.
“Today’s decision is not just a legal victory but a moral and institutional triumph for our great party,” Kingsley Otuaro stated. “It is a clear signal that adherence to due process will always prevail. The PDP is now stronger, more united, and better prepared for the challenges ahead.”
He extended warm congratulations to members of the party’s National Working Committee, particularly the leadership under Abdulrahman Mohammed and the National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, praising their resilience and steadfast commitment throughout the legal battle. Kingsley Otuaro said their victory has reinforced confidence among party members and supporters nationwide.
Turning his attention to Delta State, the PDP chieftain called on Deltans to rally behind the party as it begins a renewed push to reclaim political dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections. He expressed optimism that the PDP would regain its footing through unity, grassroots engagement, and a recommitment to delivering democratic dividends.
“We appeal to the good people of Delta State to renew their trust in the PDP. Our track record in governance speaks for itself. Under our leadership, democracy flourished and development was people-centered. We are ready once again to serve and uplift our people,” he said.
Kingsley Otuaro also used the opportunity to extend an olive branch to aggrieved and defected members of the party, urging them to return and be part of the rebuilding process.
Emphasizing inclusivity, he assured that the PDP would be magnanimous in victory and create room for all members to contribute meaningfully.
“To our brothers and sisters who may have left the fold, we say this: PDP remains your political home. This is the time to reunite and reposition our party for greater success. Together, we can recover our mandates and restore the pride of our people,” he added.
He further stressed that the PDP remains the most viable democratic platform in Nigeria, one that prioritizes internal democracy, fairness, and the welfare of its members.
According to him, the party is committed to ensuring that no member is sidelined or treated unjustly.
Political observers believe the Supreme Court ruling could mark a turning point for the PDP, particularly in Delta State, where internal cohesion is seen as critical to its electoral prospects. With early signals pointing to reconciliation efforts and strategic realignment, the party appears poised to mount a strong comeback in the next electoral cycle.
As preparations gradually begin for 2027, Kingsley Otuaro’s message reflects a broader call for unity, discipline, and renewed purpose within the PDP, a party seeking not only to heal from internal divisions but also to reassert itself as a dominant political force in Delta State and beyond.
