The Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, has been conferred with the prestigious chieftaincy title of Odoziani of Aniocha North Local Government Area by the Aniocha North Traditional Rulers Committee.
The honour was bestowed on Saturday during a brief but colourful reception held in Onicha-Uku, the hometown of renowned entrepreneur and Chairman of UBA, Mr Tony Elumelu.
The ceremony was performed by the Chairman of the Aniocha North Traditional Rulers Committee, His Royal Majesty, Agbogidi Obi Nkebakwu Emmanuel Ezedinbu III, Obi of Ugboba Kingdom, on behalf of the royal fathers of the area who were all present at the event.
The Vice President was in Delta State to attend the funeral of the late Chief Israel Ogbue, father-in-law to Mr. Tony Elumelu, held in Onicha-Olona. He was later hosted to a rousing reception at the country home of Mr. Tony Elumelu in Onicha-Uku.
Also honoured at the event was the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, who was adorned with the traditional Akwa-Ocha attire of Aniocha North as a mark of honour and deep cultural respect.
